Comparing the Munster's ham radio set and the Addam's ham radio set, I got to like the Addams' set better. Both work well and are obviously home-built, which is still the custom among the most skillful ham radio operators today, using more modern parts of curse. This opinion is based on personal engineering and hand-building experience with classical high power vacuum tube parts and equipment. Pugsley's is much higher power and has high voltages exposed, so it's far more dangerous. The way we like it around here.
Munsters: battery operated - bundle of 1.5 volt No. 6 cells.
Small unit about the side of a receiver, so it is a combination transmitter-receiver in one unit.
Old style carbon microphone, telephone switchboard type. Speaker from old phonograph or radio friom the 1930s
Addams: 120 volt operated (Uncle Fester), did he have a wattage limit?
Separate power supply chassis (center, top with luight bulb on it) Two high voltage capacitors - these are the boxes with the ceramic insulators and large coils of bare wire on them. - typical 5000 to 8000 Volt units. Instant death upon touching! Modern microphone, dynamic type, very good voice quality. left: standard 19" wide, floor-standing metal cabinet may house all manner of big high power vacuum tubes, modulator, and a separate receiver. high fidelity speaker of high quality for late 1930s. plus headphones on pugsley.
just no contest there..
